Setting up Macintosh PPP Dial-Up Access

Macintosh PPP

Step 1: Under the Apple menu, select control panels and then 'PPP'

Step 2: In the PPP window, you should:
Make sure registered user is selected.
Enter your login id under 'Name' (e.g. johndoe@usb.com)
Enter your password and select save password if you don't wish to enter it everytime you log in.
Enter your local access number under 'number'. Put '1170,' at the beginning if you wish to disable call waiting.

Step 3: If you installed the modem yourself and it it is not configured, do the following:
Still in PPP, under the PPP menu on the command bar, select Modem.


Select the modem that you have installed in your Macintosh from the list.(If your modem does not appear, you should check your modem package or contact the modem manufacturer for the modem script for your modem.
Select the port your modem is on.
Close the window and save.

Step 4: To test your connection, you can either select the "connect" button in PPP or start any internet applications (Web browser, mail, etc), and start using it.
